For more information about improving rural two-lane roads, contact meredith@engr.uky.edu or 859-230-6388. See Before/After pictures from the Safety Circuit Rider Program. An F.H.W.A. Office of Safety Grant kicked off the UK Safety Circuit Rider
Program on February 1, 2005. The Safety Circuit Rider will continue to work closely with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet’s Division of Traffic and Operations and their Highway Safety Corridor Program. The Safety Circuit Rider will continue to provide information through training, materials and advice for accepted countermeasures to identified problems. He will meet with elected officials, road and street crews and local law officials to determine ways to alleviate hazards. Locals will be referred to their respective Kentucky Transportation Highway District Office or to the consulting engineering industry for specific engineering assistance. The Safety Circuit Rider will also present Low-Cost Safety Improvements for Rural Roads workshops in 2007. Local officials will be invited to attend the workshops. Back to www.kyt2.com home. |
